Amanda Freed
What brought you to yoga?
I feel like I've been interested in yoga forever, but my first attempts to learn in the early 1980's were fraught with strict disciplines and terrifying middle of the room handstands. So, I stepped away from the physical practice and focused on yoga philosophy and studying to be a Licensed Massage Therapist. It would be many years later that I would finally find a yoga lineage that would serve the anatomy geek, fitness enthusiast, and spiritual seeker in me all at once.
What’s your yoga background and what are you most passionate about teaching?
A quick love affair with all of the eight limbs of yoga began and shortly thereafter in 1998 I became a Registered Yoga teacher. A perpetual student, I went on to become a Certified Mindfulness and Meditation Instructor, EFT Tapping instructor, and Trauma informed Somatic Embodiment Facilitator and have never looked back.
What would your students be surprised to know about you?
My students might be surprised to know that I enjoy french fries as much as kale, and full fat ice cream more than fruit smoothies!
