Alisha Stalley, Yin Yoga Teacher

She/Her/Hers

RYT®200

What brought you to yoga?
On a whim, I enrolled in a 16-week ‘Intro to Yoga’ course in college to help find calm and it introduced me to so much more than yoga asana; I learned the history and philosophy of yoga, breath awareness and meditation techniques, even mudras and mantras. Suddenly, a whim turned into a life path.

What’s your yoga background and what are you most passionate about teaching?
I spent many years believing I needed to be incredibly flexible to enroll in a yoga teacher training program, eventually it was when I listened to my intuition rather than my doubt and went for what I really wanted. Thankfully by then Yoga Pod in Tucson created the kind of program I had always desired. Though my body loves vinyasa and heated yoga classes, my heart, mind, and spirit finds such warmth and peace in Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Sound Healing, and Meditation, and so it’s these latter components that I love offering to others most.

What would your students be surprised to know about you?
It took me MANY years to be able to touch my toes; I later learned it was more important to have an open heart and mind than super stretchy hamstrings!
